One of my favourite ever crochet blanket pattern is Sophie's Universe by Dedri Uys. I've made 2 already, one in a single colour and one using yarn from my stash. It's a pattern which looks incredibly complicated when it's finished but in fact the pattern is so well written, (and you're only crocheting one row at a time!) that it's perfectly achievable for a confident, adventurous beginner.

I'd love to share the journey of making a Sophie with you. The pattern is available free online and there is an enormous amount of help available. The plan will be to meet as a group on a monthly basis to share progress and talk about our experiences of making such a beautiful project. There will be a maximum of 6 places available.

On our first meeting you will be able to choose your yarn or, if you prefer, you can bring your own yarn in with you. We will then discuss the pattern and you can get started on your own blanket. Over the next month you can follow the pattern and continue at your own pace. There will be no pressure to get to any point before the next meeting - think of this as a support group!
