Meet the team
Sandra
Like so many of us, I was introduced to knitting at an early age by one of my grandmothers. I can’t remember doing much with it at first, but as I got older, it soon became a real passion.
I used to love going to jumble sales and finding a hand-knitted jumper that I could take home, carefully unpick, wind into skeins and wash, ready to turn the yarn into something completely new. Recycling and upcycling existed even then – we just didn’t call it that!
I can’t remember exactly when I taught myself to crochet, but granny squares were the beginning of a lifelong love of the craft. Today, I enjoy all kinds of knitting and crochet and I’m always looking for inspiration for my next project.
With so many beautiful yarns, colours and textures available now, choosing what to make next can sometimes be the hardest part. And now that I have the run of the shop, I’m in absolute heaven!
Carole
I’ve always loved being creative, particularly working with colour and seeing how different colours, textures and materials come together. That has been a common thread running through all of my creative hobbies.
I started many years ago with tapestry and cross stitch, before becoming an avid scrapbooker and card maker. These days, my real passion is crochet – I love choosing the yarns and colours almost as much as creating the finished piece! More recently, I’ve also taken up sewing again and am really enjoying rediscovering another way to be creative.
For me, crafting is about enjoying the process, experimenting with colour and ideas, learning new skills and, of course, the satisfaction of creating something yourself.
Jackie
My love of knitting began when my mum taught me at the age of five, and I was instantly hooked! Since then, my passion for all things yarn has grown to include spinning, fibre dyeing and, more recently, crochet. Being left-handed, it took me a little longer to master crochet, especially as I was determined to learn right-handed!
I absolutely love working with colour, particularly bright, cheerful shades of orange, yellow and pink. I'm rarely without a creative project on the go – in fact, I usually have several WIPs (works in progress) at any one time!
For me, there's always something new to learn, experiment with or create, and that's what makes working with yarn so enjoyable.
