Sandra Ground
I was introduced to knitting by one of my grandmothers at an early age, like so many of us were. I can’t remember doing much until I was a bit older, but then it became a passion! I used to go to jumble sales and find a hand knitted jumper, take it home and unpick it, wind it into skeins and wash it, before creating something new. Recycling existed even then! I can’t remember when I taught myself to crochet, but granny squares were the start of a lifelong love of this craft. I love all types of knitting and crochet and I’m always looking for inspiration for my next project. There are so many beautiful yarns available now, it’s difficult to choose my next project, and now I have the run of the shop I'm in heaven!

I was never much of a crafter, but I have always had a belief that I can do anything–not always the case but for crochet it absolutely was! In my late thirties I saw a scarf online, and that inspired me to teach myself to crochet. I am an adventurous crochet addict–the more technically challenging the better! I also dabble in Tunisian Crochet and Macramé. Sandra is going to get me knitting so will have that string to my bow soon too.

Unwind

Unwind was formed over a catch-up coffee, where we discovered that we both had the same
desire to spread the love of fibre craft and surround ourselves with beautiful yarn–Scheepjes is certainly that! We trialled a beginner’s crochet course at the end of 2021 with a lovely group of ladies. This just added fuel to the fire, and we were lucky enough to have our vision embraced by Cisca at Campbell & Rose Gallery, who kindly took us in as Artists in Residence and enabled us to open the Unwind element of Unwind@Campbell&Rose. We have big plans for the future, so watch this space!

December 2022 began with a bang, as we took over the existing Wool and Haberdashery shop in West Moors currently known as Golden Hands.
At the end of February we closed the Verwood shop and moved all our stock to the new premises in West Moors. This shop was relaunched as Unwind With us in March 2023.
